Covering almost 2 million square kilometers, Mexico is the fifth-largest country in the Americas by total area and the 14th largest independent nation in the world. With an estimated population of 109 million, it is the 11th most populous country and the most populous Spanish-speaking country in the world.
Ninety-five percent of the population is Christian of which 89 percent are Roman Catholic. In absolute terms, Mexico has the world's second largest number of Catholics after Brazil. About 6 percent of the population is Protestant, of whom Pentecostals and Charismatics are the largest group.
Much of the BMA Mission work in Mexico focuses on reaching the descendents of the Maya and Aztec civilizations. Medical missions is also a large focus in the region providing free medical care to natives as well as telling them about Jesus Christ.
