BMA Department of Missions Send Relief Funds
Pastor Francois Norcilus reports that many are fleeing the city, seeking refuge in towns and communties throughout the country.  They are heping relocate and take care of those who have returned to the Creve Province and town of Bombardopolis.  The Bethel Baptist Church and school in that town is serving the community to help the refugees.

On Monday, January 18th, The BMAA Department of Missions forwarded some funds for relief to an account that Pastor Francois uses in the States.  The difficulty is in transfering the funds to Haiti and they are still working on that end.  Percois will travel next Tuesday, the 26th, to Haiti by way of the Dominican Republic.  Missionary David Dickson, Dr. Ralph Izard, Director of BMMI, and Phil Knott hope to meet Bro. Norcilus in the Dominican Republic on February 1st to plan future aid, medical missions and work teams to help in the rebuilding.

Percois Norcilus, son of Pastor Francois Norcilus, relates that his mother's sister and her grandchild died when their home collapsed, that a cousin was injured, and that others of his cousins are still missing.  When asked about the churches and schools related to Pastor Francois' ministry, he added, "He doesn't know yet.  He is still trying to get to those areas.  It is difficult to reach him by phone.  I am waiting for him to call."  His mother is at home in Bombardapolis and his father is in Port-au-Prince helping with the relief efforts. There was apparently little damage in the central and northern regions of the country.

Saturday, January 16th
Percois Norcilus, son of Pastor Francois Norcilus, was able to talk with his father for a few minutes.  Bro. Francois had returned to Bombardopolis, in the central region of the country, taking some people with him out of Port-au-Prince and the areas devasted by the earthquake. He plans to return to the capital on Monday to continue helping with the rescue and recovery efforts.  He also reported some contact with Octave Gerville, Pastor of the Bethel Baptist Church, on the west side of the city.  Pastor Gerville said that two members of the church were confirmed dead and another seriously injured.

Percois is trying to get us information from his father on what the most immediate needs will be and how churches and our Department of Missions can help.  We'll be announcing projects and plans as they develop.  We are also keeping a database of all those who have contacted us by phone or e-mail to say that you want to help.

Sunday, January 17th
Francois Norcilus reports from Bombardopolis, located in the northwest region of the country, that six from Bethel Baptist Church in that city had died in the earthquake and others injured. Most were students who go to school in the capital.

The crisis continues as the resuce and recovery continues and supplies of food, drinkable water and medicines run short.  Bro. Norcilus is hoping that this coming week the banking system can be restored so that funds can be transferred to
help with the relief and rebulding efforts.
